Oak
Oak is a hardwood tree particularly suited to cabinetmaking. Highly durable, it allows for a variety of shades and textures. The oaks used by Maison Philippe Hurel are French oaks from the forests of Senonches and Jupilles.

Weaved oak is the result of tireless research by the passionate artisans at Maison Philippe Hurel to create new ways to enhance this material they love so much. Produced by carefully assembling veneers in layers and then sanding them, weaved oak is characterized by its mesh-like appearance, reminiscent of the weave of a textile.

Waxed oak is a decorative technique that involves carving out the soft grain of oak and applying a colored wax to contrast or highlight a surface finish. Maison Philippe Hurel offers a wide range of exclusive waxed finishes on brushed and sanded oak with decidedly contemporary accents.

Brushed oak has a slightly textured effect; this effect is achieved by rubbing the material along the grain, revealing the wood's texture. All lacquers (NCS Kromosystem and RAL references) can be applied to brushed oak. Brushed oak is available in matte and satin finishes.

CHÊNE GOUGé
Introduced in the "Rouvre" line in the early 1990s as a tribute to the mastery of an iconic cabinetmaker's tool, gouged oak is a signature finish of Maison Philippe Hurel. Entirely handmade, the artisan cabinetmaker carves grooves in the raw material to give it relief and depth.

The sandblasting process involves spraying an abrasive at high pressure onto the material to clearly reveal the hard grains by removing the softer parts of the wood. The appearance is therefore very contrasted and plays on the effects of hollows and solids. This technique, which therefore requires thicker veneer sheets, requires a controlled gesture and all the sensitivity of the expert craftsmen of Maison Philippe Hurel to obtain a regular and harmonious result. Sandblasting darkens the color of the oak. Sandblasted oak is available in matte and satin finishes.
